Global biofuel demand to double by 2011

Freedonia Group released its projection that global demand for biofuels will increase 140 percent annually to 92 million tons between 2006 and 2011. According to Freedonia, ethanol will drive demand growth over the next three years, with the Asia-Pacific region expected to grow at a 35 percent annual rate, Western Europe 22.1 percent and North America 20.5 percent. North America is expected to consume 49 percent of all renewable fuel in 2011.
