The California Air Resources Board has updated its calculations of sugarcane ethanol’s emission reductions in the state’s low-carbon fuel standard, giving the biofuel a better carbon score than originally proposed.

Beginning next month, diesel fuel in nine northwest counties in Oregon will be required to contain at least 2 percent biodiesel, according to a news release from the state.

The American Petroleum Institute on Thursday denied claims that a study it had sponsored approved of increasing the amount of allowable ethanol in gasoline from 10 percent to 12 percent.

Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P. said that its Plantation pipeline successfully completed shipment of biodiesel on a commercial basis in the Southeast region, becoming the first pipeline company in the U.S. to do so.
